Historique

Timeless, like all true English chic. Launched in June 1970, the Range Rover Classic will have an exceptional career since its replacement, the Range Rover P38, will not be presented until September 1994.

The qualities of this machine, as versatile as it is elegant, are no longer in doubt, and there are many reasons why we can – and should – still love the Range Classic today. It would be a shame to reduce the oldest SUV to a banal polluting and ostentatious tractor, as it has contributed to writing a significant chapter in automotive history. The Range Rover is one of those concepts that have been enriched over time. At its inception (in 1966), the project described a vehicle with a very utilitarian vocation and also close to studies launched in the 1950s to develop station wagons. If the first vintages were still imbued with a rustic philosophy, already very elegant, this would not last. And to bring out ever more accomplished variations, Rover implemented a strategy particularly adapted to the errors of British Leyland at the time. The manufacturer lets the preparers and other craftsmen tackle the developments that the brand could not have carried out in these times of social crisis. When one of these modifications seems able to meet a solvent expectation, it is captured by the factory and enriches the catalog offer. Thus it is the Swiss specialist Monteverdi who will be the first, in 1980, to offer a 5-door version of the Range, followed a year later by the factory version. The same goes for the adoption of the automatic gearbox and the creation of the luxurious Vogue versions (initially left to Wood & Pickett). Fourteen years after its launch, the Range Rover definitively imposes its supremacy: luxurious, technological and spacious, it outclasses almost all the high-end sedans, while giving nothing to its much more Spartan competitors off-road.

We are offering you one of the most desirable models. It is a 1992 3.9 V8 3-door in a limited series – “Silver Spring” – of 400 units (petrol and diesel engines combined). This limited series was characterized by the following elements:

  • Color Aspen Gray or Alpine White
  • Two-tone alloy wheels,
  • Headlight washer,
  • Side nets,
  • “Silver Spring” logo on top of front fenders,
  • Protective side strips.
  • Burl walnut inserts on dashboard, door panels and around gear lever,
  • Electric sunroof,
  • Leather steering wheel,
  • 40/60 folding rear bench seat,
  • Rear headrests,
  • Armrests on front seats,
  • Electric windows and mirrors

These attributes and this rarity already give it an exceptional desirability, but know that in addition this incredible Range Rover has known only one single owner. It is therefore a first hand of French origin. And what a hand! I must congratulate this careful, rigorous and respectful owner, without whom such a heritage would not have been so skillfully preserved. On behalf of all Range Rover lovers: "Thank you, Sir".
